Hickman road closures continue in KYTC work zone report

Drivers in and around Hickman will keep running into a few closed roads next week, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 1 traffic impact report for Nov. 8-14.

In Fulton County, KY 1099/7th Street remains closed at its intersection with KY 125/Union City Highway in Hickman while crews build a new box culvert. KYTC says there’s a marked detour via KY 1463, and traffic on KY 125 is being diverted at that intersection. The overall project is expected to wrap up around the end of November.

Also in Hickman, KY 94/E. Carroll Street is closed to through traffic because of a slide near mile point 12.7. The cabinet did not list an estimated reopening date.

KY 1907/Swamp Root Road is closed at mile point 1.727 at the Little Bayou de Chien Bridge. KYTC notes that KY 1907 connects KY 94 and KY 781 northeast of the Cayce community.

In Hickman County, U.S. 51 is down to one lane with alternating traffic at mile point 2.4, between KY 1529 and the Hickman-Fulton County line, for construction of a new bridge. There’s an 11-foot width restriction, and the work is being done in two phases. Completion is estimated by the end of July 2027.

In Graves County, U.S. 45 is closed at mile point 1.8, about a mile north of Water Valley, for construction of a new bridge over Jackson Creek. KYTC expects that project to be finished by early December, weather permitting.

The cabinet says its weekly list covers many of the significant work zones and closures in the region, but short-term work and maintenance may not be included.
