Week of Oct. 4: Sunny and Dry, Highs Near 80

If you have outdoor plans this week, you’re in luck. The National Weather Service in Paducah is calling for a dry, sunny stretch across Fulton and Hickman counties and the rest of our corner of the state.

Tonight: Partly cloudy early, then clearing. Lows in the mid 50s with a light north wind.

Monday and Tuesday: Sunny with highs in the upper 70s. Monday night drops to around 50, so grab a jacket for the drive to work Tuesday morning.

Wednesday and Thursday: Clear skies, highs in the lower 80s and lows in the lower 50s.

Friday and Saturday: Sunny Friday, a few clouds Saturday. Highs stay in the lower 80s with lows in the upper 50s.

There’s no rain in the forecast all week. That’s good news for farmers trying to get crops out of the field, but dry weather also means fire risk. Kentucky’s fall fire season runs Oct. 1 through Dec. 15, and outdoor burning within 150 feet of woods or brush isn’t allowed between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

River stage: The river at Cairo was at 16.7 feet Sunday and is on the rise. The Weather Service expects it to climb to about 25.3 feet by Friday, still well below the 40 foot flood stage.

Forecasts change, so check weather.gov/pah for the latest before you head out.
